The 2022 installment of the Predator franchise. I never saw the other movies, just parts of them. I was not inspired to watch any, but I heard this one was actually good.
This one is set in 1710. A predator goes on a hunting outing in a forest near a Comanche settlement. While it works it's way up the animal kingdom, a Comanche girl starts to figure out something is amiss. . The boys hunt with bow and arrow, but she just has an ax she was given for gathering. She's pretty good with it and even comes up with a way to put a rope on it so she can retrieve it. It's a bit Mulan-esque - girls can't fight/hunt. Squaw carry wood and all that. She can't convince the tribe there is a threat, so she has to take it on herself.
For some reason, when she encountered some French trappers, Hulu decided to leave the subtitles in French, so I only caught part of the dialog...mostly "what is this?" "Kill him/her/it!"
There's a great hand to hand combat scene when she goes back to the trapper camp to retrieve her dog.
There's no swearing (except for one "merde!"), no nudity, just violence (particularly against CGI animals). I would call this a soft "R" rating.
It was pretty good. I'm going to say recommended, even...
