Come on, with the come on. This was really fun.
All black and white with one color highlight. It does have the feels of old school Universal horror. Beautifully shot. It's MCU's chance to bring monsters into the universe. I had never heard of any of these characters and now I want to know more about them. There is obviously an underlying mythos. All the Monster Hunters are gathered together to mourn the loss of their leader Ulysses Bloodstone and see who inherits the Bloodstone. (I wondered if the Bloodstone might have been an infinity stone at one point. I watch too much MCU) It's going to be a Monster fight and a fight to the death to see who gets the stone. There are a lot of good fights in the show. And some really good monsters, human and otherwise. The show is a one off Special Presentation including cool 1980s graphics. Other fun fact, the director of the show also wrote the score. You don't see that very often. Very DOOM recommended.

Twas fitting to watch this tonight - the night of the Hunter’s full moon.
It’s a decent homage to golden age B&W horror flicks and Greg is right about the action choreo - the fight with the slowly closing gate door was particularly well done - a nice oner. It was a stark departure from what MCU.D+ has been doing and I must commend that. Not sure how it might integrate into phase 5 or 4 or wherever we are now. Like The Eternals, it’s a whole new pantheon of characters. I liked Ted a lot and was kinda hoping he was swamp thing, but the interwebz says otherwise. I suppose I’ll second Greg’s D00M rec, although perhaps with a tad less enthusiasm. As this one off special under an hour goes, there are far worse things you might be watching…

I thought the Man Thing was an MCU rip-off of DC's Swamp Thing.

“Jack Russel”. That kills me.
This was such a fun one-off. “We’ll get sushi. I owe you that. You choose.”.

Director by Night
This is the behind scenes movie for Werewolf by Night directed by Michael's brother Anthony. But sort of. It's more of an exploration of Michael's childhood and how he was a director back then. Michael was inveterate videographer. He filmed lots of events. But he also, like some of us, gathered all his buddies around and made short films. Making Werewolf by Night was just an extension of those early films with his buddies with a much bigger budget. The whole film is more of a personal essay than your typical BTS movie. And Anthony injects himself into a lot of it. You get to see Anthony with his (and Michael's) mother and father. One scene that goes on forever of them making meatballs while they talk about Michael's movies. You know Anthony wants to be in this movie when you see the two camera set-up of Anthony driving. There is a mounted camera in the passenger seat and there is a cameraman with camera in the back seat. Why do you need to do this when the subject of the doc isn't even in the camera. It all comes full circle when Michael loads up a Super8 camera with fresh film and films his sets of the movie. These images are then used in the documentary. The film ends by going back to Micheal's home town and they meet up with Michael's friends, stars of the early films. They reminisce about the film making and go back to where those films were shot. The film was interesting to look at how Michael got to where he is but there is too much of it. And there wasn't nearly enough about the actual making of Werewolf by Night.
