OK, haven't seen the TV show, but the books are fun, Fun , FUN! Noir meets magic in downtown present-day Chicago. Our hero, Harry Dresden, lists his occupation as "Wizard" and operates like a private detective. The magical world, however is never far away and it can be pretty nasty. Read 'em in order as there is a story arc and character development throughout the books.
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.

How many of the books do you need. I think there used to be another forum where I posted about this author. He also has a fantasy series which isn't bad either.

Yes, I did. I'm working on the Marseille trilogy right now. I'm still looking for Clone Republic.

New Dresden book, Small Favor. The series just keeps getting better and darker.

L.A. Public library doesn't have it yet. But I'm number one in the holds list for the next "Fury" series book.
