A collection of Greek myths by the very erudite Stephen Fry. This is the first of several volumes, so it deals mainly with the creation, and myths concerning the gods. His second book focuses on heroes if that's what you're after. Sometimes his tone is a bit too contemporary, such as using an anachronistic simile, but on the whole not bad. He occasionally interrupts his narrative with commentary, and some of that is quite good. The big recommendation is that he includes all the incest, rape etc. that books I read when younger - Edith Hamilton and W.H.D. Rouse - gloss over. Plus a short and good appendix about ancient and modern sources. If you like Greek myth and want to brush up some, I'd recommend it. (I do still love the Edith Hamilton book for the pictures though.)
