RIP Sinead O'Connor 7/26/2023

Shocker. Much too young. But you get the feeling after her son Shane died, she didn't much feel like living.

And the path she chose for herself was incredibly difficult and uncompromising. I still think Mandinka is a great song.

And Jerusalem, her version of Nothing Compares 2U and Last Day of our Acquaintance (which I guess is apropos)

That first album was great. And there were some good performances on her album of traditional Irish music, although the production was occasionally a bit too 80s Daniel Lanois-ish.

I've been reminded of "Foggy Dew" which she did with the Chieftains. Great song.

This hurts my heart. With all I’ve been doing lately, there’s a lot of emotion percolating within me now, and this makes me weep.

You all know my love for Sinead. http://www.brotherhoodofdoom.com/doomFor...p?tid=5131

I feel so privileged to have seen her twice.

I’m going to put on Throw Down Your Arms next, crank it, and mourn. That album stands as one of my top 5 reggae albums (and my collection is several hundred CDs, including well over $1k in Marley rarities.

KZSC was letting a Sinead tribute run, overriding their playlist, until it switched programming to some country program, which was harsh.

I remember watching this live. It still gives me chills. Even more so now, knowing what she went through and was going to go through.

You could be watching the documentary about her life 'Nothing Compares' on Paramount+. I cannot.

It's in the queue. Had to write and catch up with my Trek yesterday night.

Meanwhile, about last night...

I hate to agree with Morrissey, but it might have helped Ms. O'Connor if people had said all these great things about her when she was still alive. It seemed like she spent her life out in the wilderness fighting the good fight without the support of all these people who laud her in death.
