Till We Have Faces by C.S. Lewis
#1
This is a reworking of the myth of Cupid and Psyche, but told by Psyche's older half-sister. In fact Psyche disappears from the story fairly early. Not preaching Christianity like his other work, but ends up with some ideas about the divine voiced by the lead character. It reminded me of The Sybil by Par Lagerkvist. Slow moving but picked up partway through, and some sections are excellent at conveying a mood. A little sword fighting. Maybe of interest if you love Greek myth? I think it might be one of the earlier instances of myth reworking, published in 1956, but I might be wrong on that.
