Belushi (Showtime 2020)
#1
Why do I keep going back to this well? I know the story. I read the book. It's very sad.

Because I'm a dreamer whose dreams don't come true.

This another sad story about a comedian. I think the main take away from the Belushi story is that he struggled to get to the top, stayed there for two or three years, and then died. You didn't see a lot of joy in his life and this film doesn't show any joy either.

It's well done. I like the style of the documentary. No narration just sound bites from all the people who knew Belushi the best. They use Belushi's hand written letters to his wife Judy to flesh out the story. And for the recreations, they did animation.

It did put into perpective how short his career was. He only made five movies. His tenure at SNL was troubled and only lasted a few years there as well. He died when he was 33.

Belushi was a slow sad tale that didn't add a lot to my knowledge of his life.

Oddly, the only director that didn't speak for the film was Spielberg. The documentary just glossed over that film.
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm
