Danny Elfman New Music
#1
Mr. Elfman has released his first pop song in over 25 years. It's quite the massage for the brain.

As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm

If Devo and The Residents had a bastard child...

I worked Oingo Boingo at the HJK in 88 for RM. They played just prior to a 3-show Grateful Dead run - a Valentine show run. Boingo's show was poorly attended so Bill Graham, in all his wisdom, had us give out free tickets to the Deadheads who had already begun to camp in the park outside the venue. Miracle tickets. The Deadheads outnumbered the Boingo fans maybe 3 to 1, but the band opened with Dead Man's Party, and they killed it. Still one of my fav tunes. After that, we were all Oingo Boingo fans. It was an incredible dance party - like the best opening act for the Dead at the time. I remember skanking my ass off and I don't remember anything from the three nights of GD that followed (but most of those memories are pretty blurry anyway). That Oingo Boingo show was magical.

Add Primus into that mix...

Dead Man's Party is a great album.

Ever see this? I saw it once playing in the background on the TVs in the Crepe Place. Music by the Mystic Knights. Danny plays the devil...

From the STRO thread

(05-24-2020, 12:26 PM)Drunk Monk Wrote: As for Borack, watch Forbidden Zone. ED & DM luv that film and spent a whole summer smokin pot and watchin it. But it doesn't work for most people. No not at all. DM remembers getting in a big arguement with Stro (not something he did very often because he was Stro and dm was just some punk undergrad epee fencer) about that film. DM & Stro were stoned and DM can still clearly remember Stro yelling in his inimitably psycho way of yelling 'That movie SUCKS! IT SUCKS!!! How can you like that fuckin' film?!'

DM should add that the summer DM & ED spent watching Forbidden Zone repeatedly was the great Pot drought of '87. One of ED's accomplices found a cache of Mexican brown in the back of some closet somewhere and that was all we had. It was nasty. Joints were rolled and smoked until either a tiny high was achieved or an annoying headache. ED/DM went through every pot cooking recipe in the Anarchist's Cookbook (I know, I know, but ED&DM were young back then and didn't know better) struggling to extract any thc that might have still been locked within those seeds and stems. DM has a very vivid memory of trying the bacon & bean recipe, which was bacon strips layered over the weed over the beans and then baked. The idea was that the bacon fat would drip down over the weed, extract the thc, and infuse the beans. It was horrid. ED&DM tried to eat it but both failed in disgust eventually. That was a rough year. And TFZ was playing in the background.

I can't believe you didn't know about cooking it in butter.

We did. This was low yield brown so nothing was working that well. We were experimenting with all the recipes because it was something to do that summer. This was before we realized that The Anarchist Cookbook was largely BS.
