Space can be ponderously slow. This film could have easily told its tale in an hour and a half, but it was Brad Pitt so it went two hours. Brad is an astronaut feeling abandoned by his dad, Tommy Lee Jones, who left for Neptune. And now Brad has to go to Neptune to find him. Ruth Negga & Donald Sutherland have small parts - too small - and Liv Tyler has an even smaller one that makes her look old. The effects were good - it gave that feeling of the inhumanity of space and stole a page or two from real space station footage. I dozed off only to be waken by Stacy informing me that I was missing Tommy Lee's inspirational speech about space exploration. Whatev. It's a Brad Pitt vehicle and he's just a bit too stoic to have earned that Oscar nom last year. Plus he narrates in case you couldn't follow what he was thinking.
No sword fights but some okay space suit zero g fights. Not DOOM recommended.
