DM's gargantuan feiyue casts a long shadow, hovering overhead.

BTW, I watched Eagle Shooting Shadows.  I think I drifted off a few times -- not from boredom, more from exhaustion, trying to keep up with the manic pace, and subtitles.

Wow, what a cast.  There were a lot of paired guys and paired gals, making me wonder if I missed some magical gender switches along the way.  But who knows.

I'm now inclined to think that a giant Rodman stomping a village would have been too tame for this movie.

I thought you'd be amused. It might be too hardcore mo lei tau for anyone not initiated. As you say, it's hard to follow because of the irrevernet pacing.

As for the gneder confusing, I had a hard time trying to figure out if Carina was supposed to be a woman crossdressing or a man played by a woman. Turns out it was the latter, as we learn in the very end. It's another one where Leslie is the heartthrob, and that always strikes me as fascinating because he was one of the early HK stars that came out as bi (after having relationships with many of the hottest HK actresses in the biz then) and ultimately killed himself. I remember discussing it with some friends at Shaolin because his suicide was around when I made my 2nd to last trip.

It was good to see Bridgette and Maggie again - I was such a fan of them (Joey's eyebrows always distracted me). The two Tony Leungs (who I still confuse) and Jackie Cheung were on point with their comic timing, as always.

For the sake of the rest of the brotherhood, a trailer must be dropped

This trailer encapsulates what the film is like - a bit of a slow start and then it's a deep dive into mo lei tau madness. If you're not a Kanopier, this movie can be found in its entirety on YouTube with a bit of searching.

OK, I guess I’m in. That looked spectacularly weird. It also looked like everyone was having a total blast
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.

If you can't find it elsewhere:

The cast is definitely having a spectacularly weird blast. Too much so, methinks, but therein lies the magic of mo lei tau.
