IF (2024)

IF

A really well made film with great talent behind and in front of the camera. It was shot Janusz Kaminski, Spielberg's longtime cinematographer.  But it was relentlessly sad. I don't know who this film was made form. Maybe the hospital Industry? I know that if I get sick, I want to go to a movie Hospital, where everyone gets there own spacious room. The nurses have nothing better to do than pop in any time to see if you'd like snacks. And there isn't that constant air of hurried desperation.

Okay, the mother dies in the first minute of the film and then the father going in for a major operation to propel the rest of the movie. The whole movie centers on a 12 year old who wants to no longer be a kid but is still a kid facing these tragedies. The kid suddenly realizes she can see the Imaginary Friends left behind when the children outgrow. These IFs are desperate to be wanted again by a new generation of kid. Our kid makes it her mission to find kids for the IFs. It is all so sad.  It reminded me a lot of Luck where the orphan girl grows out of the orphanage and is just pummeled by bad Luck. Who is making the decisions to make these films?

The film looked great. There was a ton of great voice talent so you can play guess the actor behind the character. But it was totally depressing. The Queen said it moved her.
