I feel I've seen this film a million times before. But it is directed by Taika.

I guess you didn't like this back when I posted it in April, but okay. I see how you are.

We have seen this film a million times. Loser outsider coach is forced to coach a team of misfits. I disdain sports films for this. 

But it's Taika. And it's great. I can't get enough of Taika's sense of humor. He got me to laugh out loud - like enough to spell it out - three times in this film. I'm happy if a movie gives me one good laugh. Three? Taika rocks. 

This film does everything every sports film like this does, but it's for real. At the end, the real life figures of this story are revealed along with a where-they-are-now. And that's awesome.

The film gave me the feels, exactly how and where one of these sports films should. It is an incredible story. Its peek into Samoa, its culture and its trans community, is colorful and complex. 

D00M recommended. Especially if you like Taika's work. This is so Taika, so hilariously dramatic Taika.
