RIP Aston Family Man Barrett
#1
The bass player for Bob Marley & the Wailers. Saw him many a time with the Wailers. Legend.

He was good, one of the great reggae innovators. His bass lines sometimes didn't fit into the groove the way one might expect - sometimes not hitting some of the accents I would have liked - but were so nice and melodic. I think my favorites (off the top of my head) are So Jah Seh, Natural Mystic, Zion Train and Rainbow Country.

According to the book "Catch a Fire," he inspired "Who the Cap Fit" by saying the title phrase.

Here come the tribute shows.

91.5 KKUP JAH's Music kicks off most all of my Mondays after some YMAA telemeets.

That Family Man bassline is so warm, like a fiyah, the heartbeat of roots reggae.

February is Bob Marley's birthday month, so the reggaes heat up now.
