This is a moody Japanese kaiju flick. Set in medieval Japan, a blind girl has a connection to a blind kaiju that looks like a carnivorous brontosaurus. The novelty is it’s all puppets. No actors (unless you count voice actors) just puppets. It was ok. Some of the details of the sets were impressive. Each puppet had an ambiguously sculpted expression, so it was more about body attitude. And the kaiju looked cool, which is the most important thing.
The running time was like 70+ mins, but it was really only about a half hour long which felt abrupt because I was expecting more. The other half was a making of feel, but I wasn’t that interested.
Not particularly D00M recommended unless you like puppets.
