Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power (2022)
#31
Ep08 Lots of Harfoot action in this one. Also the quest for Sauron is on. The elves figure out a way to make the three rings. The Numinorians head back to Numinor. I guessed right off who Sauron was.

Kind of a slow episode. Lots of misdirection. Lots of problems with the White Witches. It's engaging. I will watch when it returns.

Got up to the beginning of ep 5. A remark by Elrond near the end of ep 4 gives a possible identity for the Starman, but probably a red herring.

E7: Too much harfoot action (or lack of action - except for the burning).

Everyone in this freaking show blames themselves for the catastrophes. What a bunch of neurotic heroes. I'm not identifying with any of the characters, not even the elf sword hawtty.

Still watching tho.

Is it just me or does King Durin's crown look like the crown of the Nazgul?

E8 Well that’s done… for now. The Sauron reveal did surprise me but in all honesty, I’ve not been overly attentive to this show because it’s not quite working for me, so I’m often surfing the web on my liephone to fill in the boring parts. I suppose things are lined up for the next season.

I’m getting pretty tired of the elves and their prissy aloofness, the harfoots and their folksy simplicity (although I did like how that death played out), the humans and their selfish neediness… let’s get back to the orcs. I did like the white witches, but there you go, right?

I’m finding it funny how each race has a different British accent. I wonder how that plays out in the translations. They should do an American version: elves : Californian ; dwarves : Brooklyn ; harfoots : N’awlins ; humans : Jersey ; orcs : Texan. Whaddaya think?

Other ways this series could be improved: a Led Zeppelin and Glenn Yarbrough soundtrack. Each ep edified down to a half hour. More sword fights. Bollywood dance numbers. Cthulhu and xenomorph attack. Cameos by Cate Blanchett and Liv Tyler. Adding Baby Yoda.

I’ll prolly tune in for s2 when the time comes and I’ll need to review this thread to remind myself what happened… or just go to fandom.

Make the Elves Icelandic and put Bjork and some of her music in there.

S2e1 the 1st ep is like an hour and a half, like a whole movie, only not much happens but set up.

Sauron is revealed and reborn. He’s not quite working for me. I liked him better as a firey eye. Elrond also isn’t working for me. He’s too aloof. The wizard & harfoots aren’t working either. Just don’t like ‘em. Galadriel is working. I think I’m only watching for her. No dwarves in this ep, which works fine for me.

We know what happens to Sauron, Elrond & Galadriel so there like no tension, just the ‘how did they get there?’ which I don’t care that much for. This ep needed more sword fight. There’s one at the being but it was hard to watch.

Only 2 more eps have been released. Perhaps I’ll get there. Prolly.

I think I've reached LotR burnout. I can't muster any enthusiasm for this show.

I think you’re burned out in general, unless it’s MCU men in spandex…

Have you seen Huge Jackman in Deadpool? He's dreamy.

Whatev, brah. Remember - this is D00M. No poofters.

Watched s2e2. It was only an hour long and more tolerable. This show has great effects, costumes & sets. Sauron wasn’t working for me but he transforms into the Lord of the Rings, which is a lot like Jesus. I’m only half watching it but it’s entertaining that way. It’s a struggle to keep up with the story - too many characters.

I’ve pretty much given up trying to track this show - too many characters and story arcs and deep lore. I’m lost. But I’m still watching it because 1. Every once in a while there’s some cool scene and 2 Galadriel.

This ep started with spiders, lots of spiders. Then there was some political shenanigans, then Sauron gets the mithril to make the dwarf rings but we knew he would. Stupidest forge ever. There was such a long smelting groove and there’s no need for that (more time for the Liquid Metal to cool which makes no sense). Coulda skipped this ep.
