I watched this on PBS because Stacy said to stream it before our trip but I just found it here.
It was a surprisingly engaging doc, especially the early attempts to get water to SF. I had heard fragments of this history before - I think I went on a field trip to the Water Temple as a school kid because I know I've been there and that's probably where I heard some of this.
I was astonished to learn how good SF water quality is because Hetch Hetchy has such good water - basically snow melt coming down off granite. I've always said how good the water is while backpacking in Yosemite - best water in the world. And this doc confirms that.
The Cruz is on a different reservoir - off the San Lorenzo.
I may not be gobbling down Yose books like Greg the book glutton but at least I watched this. Now if I could only find my sierra bup.
