Yes, that really is part of the premise. But there's lots more to this psychosexual Freudfest. Millie Perkins is surprisingly good playing the disturbed woman slowly unraveling.
Some of the gore looks a bit amateurish these days. Still, it had me cringing. And in its day the film earned a place on the the UK's 'video nasties' list.
No swordfights. But at least there's straight razors.
