Here. Here's a guy flick.
Guy Ritchie.
Called The Gentlemen.
Can I get a ftw?
Good o'l Guy. He always aims to please, aims with a bullet straight between the eyes and a cockney snarky comment to boot. Great cast - McConaughey, Hunnam, Farrell, Wu, Golding, Grant (in an exceptional role), and Downton factor 1 with the ever lovely Michelle Dockery. I don't think I've ever seen a flick that says 'cunt' as much as this one.
It's a UK gangster tale - a pot grower kingpin is looking to retire and sell off his empire - ultravi ensues. There's a tong element. It's fun in that Ritchie way.
I enjoy hearing Michelle talk dirty, even it this film totally fails the Bechdel test - it's Richie after all (Kate Beckinsale was originally cast for this part and despite getting addicted to her cat vid grams - thanks Greg - Michelle brings something new to the moll role where I think Kate would have delivered the same ol' gangster arm candy caricature).
Tasty double crossing in that gangster way. That deliciously droll Brit humor and lyrical use of profanity ('melt' does get uttered in one of the minor streams of curses). I smirked a lot. Reminded me of Tarantino but with an English lilt bordering (or poaching) Shakespeare.
No sword fights but some rachets. Absolutely DOOM recommended.

Excellent. I've been put off by the reviews. I've been catching Snatch on cable a lot recently and was hoping this would be more of that.

Speaking of Snatch, I hear that Disney is working on a remake, to be called Cunt; but no doubt they'll tone the violence way down, being Disney.

If Michelle is in, I'm in.

Saw it. It's really good. I'm so glad Ritchie has gone back to British gangster movies.
Hugh Grant stole this movie. So good. Such a departure. It's nice to see him acting like he likes acting. For a long time, I don't think he did. But he enjoyed the hell out of this role. In a close second, was Colin Ferrell. I'd see an entire movie about his boxing club. And is there a rule in London Mob circles that the tougher you are can be gauged directly by how outrageous are your glasses?
I really liked this. It was kind of slow going at first but then it lost all sense of proportion and was really exciting. So many twists. So many I saw coming. Henry Goulding had a nice departure role as well.

Now that you mention it, I think Hugh lost his fire after he got busted for being a wanker. It was good to see him here back in new form. And agreed about Colin.
