I like Matt Haig but this wasn't his best. Basically it's a Hamlet redo, told by an 11 year old kid in the UK. His father's ghost appears and tells him that he was murdered by his brother (the boy's uncle), and that the boy has to avenge him within a year of his death or his ghost will suffer torment forever. I thought too much of the narrative is stream of consciousness with not enough punctuation. There is some question about the reliability of the narrator.
Not that long and fairly entertaining, but kind of forgettable. For this author I'd recommend Humans or How to Stop Time.
