The Lost Boys (1987)
#1
I figured I'd revisit this now that I'm back in Santa Cruz. It's so dated now, but it's fun to see the Boardwalk from back in the day. Kiefer is still pretty good, but the rest of the flick comes off super cheesey in that made-for-TV (even though it wasn't) late 80s way.

This film sorely needs a remake. There's a great metaphor for following the herd in this film, but it is so overshadowed by its datedness now.

I should check out Sudden Impact again soon.

I swore I thought they already did make a remake. But no. Though there is a rumor of a remake.

Sondra Locke, though?
So much for the flickr badge idea. Dammit

I'd buy this, but I'd rather lose 20 pounds a different way:

It was packed. The beach was cut in half by the tide - never seen the water so far in. Good thing climate change is a myth. I met up with some RM friends who were about 20 ft from the sea as people tried to build a sand wall. It was breached and several people got wet but we were ok. Tara hooked up with some school friends elsewhere. Stacy tried to foment over after work but it was too packed.

Tara & I made it to the intermission then bailed because it was too cold and there were too many tourists smoking cheap cigars and fruity ass vapes. It was fun though, especially the beginning with so many shots of the boardwalk. Tara was glad she saw it after she stopped working there because she could relate to the security guard who gets snatched at the beginning of the film being the last to leave.

We walked home over the bridge, joking about jumping in and waking up at home in bed.  We were followed by a dude on a lightwired silver fish bike.  Good ol' Santa Carla.

These bloodsuckers can hit some high notes.
The Lost Boys,” the cult vampire film from the 1980s, is being turned into a musical. The show will feature music from The Rescues and will be directed by Michael Arden, who recently brought the Tony Award-winning revival of “Parade” to Broadway. David Hornsby, a writer on “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” and Chris Hoch will handle the book. Tony Award nominee Ethan Popp (“Tina, The Tina Turner Musical”) will serve as music supervisor for the production.
Broadway and film actors James Carpinello, Marcus Chait and Patrick Wilson will produce the show, which marks their first collaboration. The production will be mounted under a special arrangement with Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures.
The Rescues released their major label debut “Let Loose The Horses” on Universal Republic in 2010. Other work include 2013’s “Blah Blah Love and War” and a 2017 self-titled album.
The original 1987 film of “The Lost Boys” was based on a story by James Jeremias and Janice Roberta Fischer, and was directed by Joel Schumacher and produced by Richard Donner. It follows two teenage brothers who move with their divorced mother to the fictional town of Santa Carla, California, only to discover that the town is a haven for vampires. The film was released by Warner Bros. and boasted an ensemble that included Corey Feldman, Corey Haim, Jason Patric, Kiefer Sutherland and Dianne Wiest. It became a touchstone for Reagan era teens, helping to kick off a new wave of youth-centered horror stories like “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Twilight.”
