Finished this. It was quite good, albeit very long winded. It deepened my understanding of Verdi, a composer I've always admired but never really knew. What a fascinating life.
We heard SCS perform his Requiem in '17 (http://www.brotherhoodofdoom.com/doomFor...p?tid=4076) and now learning the backstory (which was probably in the program notes) the piece feels much more meaningful.
