RIP Tom Robbins - thatguy - 02-10-2025 I think it was trendy at the time, but I enjoyed "Jitterbug Perfume, "Still Life with Woodpecker" and "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues". I might have read "Skinny Legs and All" and "Another Roadside Attraction", but I don't remember. I'm a terrible reader, so to have finished a number of novels is an accomplishment. --tg RE: RIP Tom Robbins - King Bob - 02-10-2025 I read most of them in my teens and twenties and enjoyed them. Jitterbug Perfume was my favorite. I still have a couple of paperbacks, and was recently thinking about re-reading one to see if it held up. Have to get to that. I was surprised that he was that old - 92. I figured him to be ten or more years younger. RE: RIP Tom Robbins - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 02-11-2025 I went through a Tom robbins phase, about the same time as KB. Enjoyed his work. Did not know he was still alive. RE: RIP Tom Robbins - Drunk Monk - 02-12-2025 I never engaged his writing at all and was only peripherally aware of him. In my years when I was reading a lot, it was mostly stuff with swords - ancient history, mythology, and fantasy. Did he ever write about swords? |
