The Simpson's Movie - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 07-27-2007

I think I wet myself it was so funny.
It was funny line after funny line. All the character you know and love are there, although it did need more Apu.

Everybody takes a hit including the audience. Yes, it's just an extended Simpsons episode, but it was remarkable on the big screen.

We had a few moments of trepidations when the Queen and I saw the huge crowd of children at the audience. Fortunately, the Queen was between them and I. Except for once when the one child wandered our aisle, stopped in front of me, and stared at me. But the movie was strong enough to overcome these distractions.

I need to see it again right now. If you see it, make sure you stay until the end.

Spiderpig, Spiderpig, does whatever a Spiderpig does.

it's just a long episode - Drunk Monk - 12-28-2007

I think too many Simpson's fans got me all hyped up. Sure, you get to hear Marge cuss and see Bart's willy, but the 'improved' animation was distracting. It just didn't feel like the Simpson's style. There's a psychedelic trip of Homer's (and we know how much DM enjoys those) but that paled to Homer's hot pepper trip or Lisa's "I am the lizard queen" toxic-"small world" ride water trip. I think I would have enjoyed just watching three episodes back-2-back more.

Yes, it is just a long episode. And the episode is funny. Mongo like.

I should clarify... - Drunk Monk - 01-03-2008

...I was entertained by the film, more than say, the Water Horse, but it just didn't meet my overblown expectations. The episodes are just so much tighter. I was expecting more from the movie, something way over the top, but it's really hard to do that given the consistent quality of the series. I should have realized that when Greg says he wet himself, that's not too extraordinary.

I admit I haven't watched the series in a long time, no matter what my parents think. But I think the opening took me a little bit off guard and I hadn't been surrounded by this much Simpson's humour in a long time. It's a good thing it's arriving in my mailbox tomorrow.

I usually save my annual Simpson's viewing for the Treehouse of Horror. This year I watched the musical episode because, yes, I'm a slave to buzz. It was fine. Marge wants to recreate a play she did in High School about the Y2K bug. There is singing. But the show isn't as biting as I remember it to be. I made the wise choice in not having The Simpsons in my rotation. I will still watch the Treehouse of Horror, though.

Sunday was Treehouse of Horror night. It did not disappoint. They did a ripoff of Parasite which was funny. The did some cool animation for a Poe episode. They were all gruesomely funny. Will watch again next season.

You watched this on broadcast TV?

I was boycotting The Simpson’s because Fox sux, but realized that it’s now on Disney+ which is kinda cheating. They only have the past 32 seasons and it’s set up so you could watch all of them in the D+ Halloween section but I only watched last year’s which had a decent parody of Groundhog Day and the Spiderverse. Watching them all is tempting but I’m gonna pass on that.

I did record this off broadcast TV. It didn't occur to me to go watch all the previous episodes.

Is this now our Simpsons thread? I think so. Making a new thread for the 5m Plusaversary seems wasteful and ED isn't about anymore despite my Vegas quest to return him to D00M so here goes.

5 mins of Simpsons spoofing and advertising Disney. Yeah, it works in that Simpsons way. I didn't laugh but I was amused. They had free reign to tap all the franchises and the references were constant and copious. There are worse ways to waste 5 mins when you can't decide what to watch.

It is on my radar. Didn't know if I was going to dive in.

It’s 5 minutes. Just enough time for you to wet yourself again.

RE: The Simpson's Movie - Greg - 12-02-2021

Five minutes wasted in a good way. I think I did chuckle a few times. It was fun seeing all the mashups.

In honor of full disclosure, I did not wet myself.
