Dream Scenario - thatguy - 07-01-2024 http://www.brotherhoodofdoom.com/doomForum/showthread.php?tid=3294&pid=67496#pid67496 This was pretty good. A bit like an episode of Black Mirror, with a bit of quirkiness a la Being John Malkovich. Nick does some decent acting and not to “Nick Cage-ey”. He’s a professor and pretty early on it becomes clear that he is appearing in many other peoples’ dreams…he becomes a bit of a celebrity and his life turns because of it. I’d recommend it. —tg RE: Dream Scenario - Drunk Monk - 04-01-2026 (09-19-2023, 09:36 AM)Drunk Monk Wrote:(09-19-2023, 09:26 AM)Greg Wrote: Dream Scenario I concur with tg. This is like an extended Black Mirror episode. A24 puts out some odd films and this is a perfect example. It’s a very different role for Nic - a milktoast tenured professor, father of two daughters, who goes viral when he spontaneously starts appearing in other people’s dreams. His delight at the sudden adoration was Nic at his best; the innocent translucent egotism perfectly played. And when things get nightmarish, Nic slays. It’s a quiet film, underplayed, which makes it work far better than if they went all nightmare on elm street. Even Cera was good, and I disdain him in general. And good to see Tim Meadows again, even if only for a small role. I probably would’ve enjoyed it more if it leaned into the surreal dreams, but perhaps that wasn’t to point. Mildly D00M recommeded. Seen on Hoopla. |
