Deadpool & Wolverine - Drunk Monk - 04-22-2024

RE: Deadpool & Wolverine - Greg - 04-22-2024

Nice Easter Egg to Rob Liefeld right in the trailer.

RE: Deadpool & Wolverine - Drunk Monk - 04-22-2024

You're such a Marvel fanboy. I could hear you 'squeee!' from here.

RE: Deadpool & Wolverine - Greg - 04-22-2024

I just saw a post that showed a clip of Ray Park in the trailer as well.

Seen it.

It was really entertaining but it wasn't a very good story. It does answer the question about what happens when you give too much money to Reynolds to make a movie. I think it needed a really good action director instead of Shawn Levy. Wolverine had a much better character act and did more acting than Deadpool. There were some great scenes. There were a lot of surprises. So much blood. Some really good creepy scenes.

In the end, I laughed a lot but didn't think it was a very good movie.

Also, don't look at the IMDB page for this movie before you have seen it. But definitely look after you have seen the movie.

RE: Deadpool & Wolverine - Greg - 07-31-2024

I guess the lid is off and the spoilers are out. Everywhere.

RE: Deadpool & Wolverine - Drunk Monk - 07-31-2024

I've dodged them like you've dodged covid.

There was so much talk at SDCC, not to mention the reveal, the 'blowjob' popcorn buckets (as one of the reps put it at Den - he was working on that too), and of course, the drone show.

Helps that I have my focus on my work between SDCC & RotR. Barely been able to watch the Olympics.

LEDECKY!!!

RE: Deadpool & Wolverine - Greg - 10-14-2024

I bought this over the weekend so I could watch the extras. There were a few more jokes I caught. It holds together better than the first viewing. I appreciate Jackman more than Reynolds. Jackman had some actual moments of acting and pathos were most of Reynolds was just mugging. Although, hard to act when your face is completely covered for most of the movie.

The extras were okay. I did like them going over the bus oner in detail. I might have to watch that again.

RE: Deadpool & Wolverine - Drunk Monk - 11-13-2024

Seen. Meh. One of those films that’s a shameful barometer of US tastes, like the election. How much did this earn again?

It had its moments and plenty of fan service with so many cameos and so many inside jokes but the schtick wore thin on me by the second hour.

I guess I just can’t stand Reynolds. I liked what Jackson brought. Good to see Garner (although she’ll always be Sydney Bristow to me) and Snipes. Good to see Lewis Tan too, although he didn’t have any lines. Was that Ray? It was too quick to see. Morena was gorgeous as ever but I always feel she’s wasted in this role. I’m glad they said ‘Cavill’ or I would’ve missed that entirely.

The breaking the 4th wall bit never worked for me in the MCU - except May with She Hulk. The constant pokes at the mouse felt derivative of She Hulk too. The sanguineousness was amusing at first, but also wore thin by the end.

I liked the concept of Deadpool v Wolverine where both could do maximal damage to the other and then heal. I thought the bus oner (along with oner lead up) was mostly cgi.

I really liked the effect where Cassandra Nova stuck her hand into people's heads. That looked cool.

In all fairness, I’ve never liked Deadpool that much. Something fundamental to the concept rubs me the wrong way - it’s probably Reynolds. You’d think I’d like it more but it’s never worked for me. It kept moving well enough (I did doze off and have to rewind but that was out of fatigue more than boredom). If you ask me what happened next week, I will likely have forgotten the bulk of this.

Not D00M recommended.

RE: Deadpool & Wolverine - Greg - 11-14-2024

I'm thinking you just don't like nice things.

This was the weakest of all the Deadpool movies. Reynolds just went crazy with the quipping. Usually you get a little heart to his journey but not this time. I don't even know why Morena is in these films. I loved the Nova effect with the fingers. Huge Jackman did a really good job, though.

I did enjoy it more the second time through.

RE: Deadpool & Wolverine - Drunk Monk - 11-14-2024

I’ve already forgotten what happened. Did Sydney make it out?

The multiverse has become absurd.

RE: Deadpool & Wolverine - thatguy - 11-14-2024

The best thing about this one was the call outs to events from other MCU products like "That thing that happened in Loki season 2 episode 5". I think all MCU offerings would benefit from this in-context annotation as I tend not to know who the f a character is, what they've done (or are going to do, in the case of the multiverse, or didn't do, in the case of the multiverse).
