Apparently, Woz wanted to bestow a message about technology and humanity to the attendees. What better way to do that than to start the festival by towing a flying saucer over the audience with a helicopter and then playing this video on the jumbotrons:

It must have been torture...The face of 1000 nations part is particularly nightmarish.

You didn't miss it...it was the other US festival. I made a post about it before. It's really something to see. And, tell me that doesn't seem like Dana Carvey as the alien.
