Champions (2023) - Greg - 09-03-2023

Woody Harrelson as Marcus loses his job as an assistant basketball coach, goes on a bender, gets in an accident and has to coach a developmentally challenged group of young men women the game of basketball. The film is directed by Bobby Farrelly, half of the director duo that brought you Dumb and Dumber and There's Something About Mary. this film hits every beat you could guess of a sports film. Along the way everyone learns a valuable lesson. There are some funny bits but not enough. There are some heartfelt bits but not enough. I think the gimmick or catch is that all the mentally challenged characters are played by mentally challenged actors. The best of the lot is Cosentino. She should get her own show. The film also stars Ernie Hudson, Kaitlin Olson and Cheech Marin.

I was interested in this because of Kaitlyn, but that’s about it. I’m not that into sports stories unless they involve swords. Or at least a lot of fisticuffs.

I’m thinking of passing now with your not enough review. Was there enough Kaitlyn at least?

Kaitlyn ==> sex scenes

Downside sex scenes ==> Woody

Kaitlyn is good throughout.

Oof. That’s a push. So conflicted.

I’m still pissed at that Deadpool sequel sex scene with Morena.
