A classic kaiju tale told from a modern Norwegian perspective with decent CGI and a strong lead actress. I rather enjoyed it. It was very predictable in terms of storytelling pace if you know the kaiju genre - the spin was it was headed to Oslo not Tokyo. The Norway panoramas were impressive. Much better than the recent Hollywood kaiju like Godzilla v Kong.

A decent sequel, continuing the tale with a next gen troll researcher and having some decent throwbacks to the original like the same bystander randomly getting his house kicked it. There’s a troll attack at the ski lodge rave that’s funny and a deepening of the troll lore, sprinkled with Christian v pagan elements. Still not much more than a Norwegian kaiju flick but there’s originality in the appropriation. This reminded me slightly of Honda’s The War of the Gargantuans with a good kaiju & an evil one. It takes a tomb raider turn for a moment, which was a bit distracting but provided the solve without detracting from the momentum overall.
Only D00M recommended if you saw the first one and enjoyed it. This sequel is more of the same, in a good way.
