Spider-Man: No Way Home - Drunk Monk - 11-16-2021

Wait...is this still MCU if it's Sony?

RE: Spider-Man: No Way Home - Greg - 11-17-2021

Okay.

RE: Spider-Man: No Way Home - Drunk Monk - 12-03-2021

Got a screener invite. Yay.

Unfortunately it's only for one. No guests. Which means if I go, I have to write it myself. No help from Patrick. And this looks like the kind of film he could really sink his teeth into.

That being said, I kinda know the movie lore. I've already got a few paragraphs in my head about the fight choreographer. The screener is in SF on the 14th and I'd have to have something by the 16th.

Part of me thinks I should just pass it off to Patrick and buy a ticket for myself when it comes out. But I don't get to the movies often nowadays. I still haven't seen Dune...

RE: Spider-Man: No Way Home - Drunk Monk - 12-06-2021

I applied for the screener.

Unfortunately, this is a personal invite. I leveled up on the invite list through Den and it's non-transferable, so I can't pass it on to Plugo. So I either to it or no one does. And it seems a waste to pass it by.

The weird thing about these personal invites is I'm not sure the promotors want KFM coverage because our viewership isn't as massive as Den. I did pitch something to Den but I'm sure they've got it covered by MCU experts. I'm not of that caliber.

I've got a large portion of what to write for KFM in my head. It'll be a short review. I think I have the bandwidth (I always say that).

Nice Easter egg for Hawkeye (Rogers musical billboard)

JK Rowling is pitch perfect for JJJ.

RE: Spider-Man: No Way Home - Drunk Monk - 12-14-2021

Just over a dozen of us in the entire multiplex. It’s opened just for this screener.

I’m at CGV in the old Cadillac building - this used to be the regency, right? Where ED once worked? I think the last time I was here was for that Jackie flick in Ireland.

It’s a house of pros - they’re doing the industry chat thing and someone here has seen everything coming up. I’m still not in with the in crowd. Maybe half of us are sitting alone fiddling with our phones.

A few more stragglers came in. Still less than 20 peeps.

Met the new rep. She seems nice. It’s weird to meet masked folk. There’s this gay assistant who always recognizes me. He’s very sweet.

So ready to lose myself in a film...

RE: Spider-Man: No Way Home - Drunk Monk - 12-15-2021

Amazing!

I haven’t laughed so much in an MCU movie. Got the feels too. I really enjoyed this. It does what MCU films do best and brings together so much. I was totally engaged and forgot my woes for the duration of the film. Luved it. Excelsior!

D00M recommended except for Greg. He’s already too addicted to the MCU and this might push him over the edge to get a tattoo or something (although a spidey tramp stamp might work...)

RE: Spider-Man: No Way Home - Greg - 12-15-2021

Who says I don't have one already? I have a date with Spidey on Saturday.

RE: Spider-Man: No Way Home - Drunk Monk - 12-15-2021

Is it above or below the DM inside the heart?

Srsly tho - this made me want to rewatch all the pre-Holland Spider-Mans again. Those villains...

RE: Spider-Man: No Way Home - Greg - 12-15-2021

Over? Instead of?

I'll get back to you on that. The Holland Spiderman's show pretty regularly on TBS. And The Amazing Spiderman (the one I did) keeps showing on Starz.

RE: Spider-Man: No Way Home - Drunk Monk - 12-15-2021

I revisited S3 when the first Venom came out and remember the Raimi trilogy fairly well. The two Amazings are somewhat blurry.

I’m going to stop before I spoil anything. You’ll have a great time on Saturday. Phase 4 is on!

RE: Spider-Man: No Way Home - Greg - 12-15-2021

I stand ready. I'm in avoidance mode.

RE: Spider-Man: No Way Home - Drunk Monk - 12-15-2021

so

many

spoilers...

But you know what they say - with great spoilers comes great responsibility.

There were more Easter eggs than I could even count.

RE: Spider-Man: No Way Home - Greg - 12-18-2021

Bring on the spoilers!

RE: Spider-Man: No Way Home - Greg - 12-18-2021

My big take away? Who knew De La Soul was still recording?
