Tokyo Raiders (2000) - Drunk Monk - 09-11-2021

Another Tony Leung. An action comedy directed by Jingle Ma (not like Jingle bells or jingles the Pom but jing luh) - a buddy flick costarring Ekin Cheng. It’s dated - feels more like a 90s buddy flick with lots of HK style (weird cinematography) and goofy humor.

Some okay fights and stunts. Tony jumps from a moving truck to a moving car and it’s clearly him. Skateboard chase, boat chase, ok fight choreo for the time.

Tony & Ekin are investigators protecting a jilted bride of a missing yakuza fiancée. I started this prior to BottleRock and just finished it tonight so the break blurred my memory and broke the flow but I don’t think it matter much. The film is disjointed plot wise anyway.

It inspired sequels and is generally well thought of by fans but disdained by critiques. It spawned sequels which I might watch someday if convenient.

No sword fights but a golf club and taser fight. Not particularly D00M recommended.
