For some unremembered reason, Greg recommended Kate’s IG to me. It’s become one of my fav follows. She’s funny and crass and hawt and has cute pets. I was hoping one of her pets would get a cameo in this. If that happened, I missed it.
Kate plays a femme fatale with anger issues. They are so bad that she were a special vest that electrocutes her to control it. She’s in therapy under Stanley Tucci no less. She’s constantly visualizing killing people that annoy her. I could relate to that. She also gets superhuman powers when she does get angry - not like the hulk but she’s a killing machine.
This tries to be stylish with neon color schemes, electro hip hop and some odd camera angles. Kate makes bawdy quips in that lovely English accent of hers, and looks hawt doing it. But the film misses - I’d almost say ‘style and no substance’ but the style is contrived and cliche. It’s a shame because Kate does what she does well. Maybe she needed her pets.
The fight choreo is ok. Kate’s stuntperson (possibly stuntman or just a thick stuntwoman) hides under a bleach blonde wig. There a few decent exchanges and one frantic one-er (lots of stitches and it’s not that long but it still works). It’s serviceable but far short of stellar.
Lots of shots to the nuts. That was an uncomfortable yet funny theme of tonight’s viewing.
No sword fights. Not DOOM recommended unless your a Kate fan, so much so that you don’t miss her pets.

Aw.
You should see it. It'll stoke your anger and make for a fun 'Greg hates it' post. Kate is good in it. It's just one of those films that could've been so much better if it wasn't so full of itself being all stylish artsy...or if it had real plot. The ultravi is okay and Kate remains easy on the eyes.
DOOM has a soft spot for femme fatale films.
If only it had sword fights and tentacles...

It was entertaining enough, though totally predictable. Kate sure is easy to watch. Susan Sarandon has not aged well.
