VR Headsets - Greg - 03-11-2021
tQ bough me a Virtual Reality headset for our anniversary. She bought me the Oculus Quest 2. It's very nice. The question is where do I talk about it?
It could be seen as a video game and be placed in the media section.
But I lean towards putting it in issues since I'm mostly using it for exercise and my thighs haven't been this full of lactic acid in quite some time. I'm doing a program called Supernatural where I slice at balls flying towards me while music plays. Yes, I feel incredibly awkward doing it, but my heart is beating nicely and my arms and legs are tired at the end. My legs get tired from mostly doing squats.
It's all a weird experience.

We got Tara an Oculus. Stacy's dad built her a gaming PC as a High School graduation present and the Oculus worked well with that. She didn't let me play with it very often however. She just showed me some of her virtual worlds and games. I liked Beat Saber but I only got to play it a few times.

I've seen Beat Saber but opted for Supernatural. Beat Saber's deal is for you to keep purchasing music packs while for Supernatural you pay a monthly fee. Still getting used to it.

Digital Media in our department uses Oculus too. Different model though, the Rift. I've never tried it.

I continue to do the exercises. I feel very self conscious when i do them because of the virtual world. I'm afraid tQ will film me jumping around and waving my arms like a loon. I'm still on the lowest difficulty setting for the exercises. But that will all change today when I try one of the medium exercises. It was released to celebrate St. Pat's The music is all Sea Shanties.
the biggest problem so far is my glasses keep fogging during the exercise. Suddenly, I can't see the targets I'm supposed to be hitting.

Any recommended games for the Oculus Quest (any version)?
A former co-worker has a daughter now working there, and she's going to use me as a guinea pig.
She asked what games to preload and mentioned her favorite and the favorites of a couple friends. I told her to load those up for starters.
They are: I Expect You to Die, Beat Saber, Job Simulator.
Any recommendations from the lot of you?
I guess some games are sit-down affairs and some done standing. I question whether standing would work for me, due to balance issues. But maybe I just don't have a clue.
While down in Florida, we hit Kennedy Space Center and checked out the Rocket Park or whatever it's called. That seemed like a good idea, until I looked up. My modus operandi soon became: 1) walk to the base of a rocket, 2) grab hold of a railing with one hand, 3) look up.

The only thing I use my Occulus for is Supernatural which is a workout routine. It's very good, but I haven't done it for some time. They have added boxing to their calisthenics and meditation programs.

Tara has an Oculus. It's a lot of fun. I luv beat saber and if I had one, I'd probably play that all day and all night.
I hear there's a lot of Oculus porn... just sayin...
