Never saw this John Carpenter film before. Roddy Piper sees alien people. The extended alley fight seen was particularly silly, but the underlying message that we’re all being duped into submissiveness still resonates. I’m happy to be able to check the “seen it” box.

It's been years since I've seen this but it really stuck with me as exceptional.

I saw a good chunk of it just recently it. It played on one of the pay channels. It seems really apropos give the condition of society right now.
I'm always struck that the original author of the story upon which the movie is based, never considered it a science fiction story but an actual depiction of society at the moment.
