This Sporting Life (1963) by Lindsay Anderson - cranefly - 01-08-2021
Richard Harris is a rough-edged bloke of a miner bent on becoming a professional rugby player to improve his lot. Impressing sports agents with his rough-hewn crowd-pleasing tactics, he gets recruited. But despite all the money he now makes, he cannot easily change who he is and win the heart of the lady he has taken an interest in.
(Have I said too much?)
Richard Harris disappears into this role. He even does his own rugby scenes, and convincingly.
The one question that needs to be asked is, Why did cranefly choose to watch this movie?
Answer: 2021 is badly in need of a good old-fashioned scrum.
This delivers a couple notable ones.

P.S. I keep getting Richard Harris and Rex Harrison mixed up. I don't know how. They aren't anything alike. But as an interesting tidbit, after Richard Harris' first wife divorced him, she next married Rex Harrison.

Do you mean Limerick's own Richard Harris? I've been to his local and chatted with his brother.
