Wonder Woman: WW84 (HBO Max) - Greg - 12-27-2020 I found out who I had to sign up with in order to get HBOMax as part of the HBO package and not have to pay extra. And our first venture back was watching WW84 or whatever the proper title should. Gal Gadot is back along with Pedro Pascal (Mandolorian) and Kristen Wiig. Basically by 1984 WW is hiding out and sulking with occasional forays out to do good. But she doesn't want people to know it's her. This is a far cry from the WW of 1917 who would jump into any battle to do good which made all the people around her better. And to be honest, I did not like the 1984 WW. Lots of whining. The story was very convuluted and they didn't explain about how things work very well. Both Pascal and Wiig get powers and naturally they aren't going to do good with them. First, I didn't like the Mandolorain being so evil. And I've never really liked Wiig to begin with so that obviously colored my reception to her. I didn't think the action sequences were all that great. They were much more fun in WW. And the ending, well you'll just have to see it. WW84 pales in the shadow of WW. And as our Arab friends point, it's probably one of the most racist films of the year, too. RE: Wonder Woman: WW84 (HBO Max) - thatguy - 12-27-2020 I got to the Christopher Pike part and gave up. I did note the hobo in the park was reading “Waiting for Gadot”. That “Easter egg” came off as pretty heavy-handed/obvious. Meh —tg RE: Wonder Woman: WW84 (HBO Max) - Greg - 12-27-2020 Pine? I thought he appeared in the trailer. Anyway I won't say anymore as I don't know what happens. RE: Becket...it's a good play dammit. There's the Burgess Meridith / Zero Mostel version. There's the Robin Williams / Steve Martin version (which I haven't seen, but I'd like to...) --tg RE: Wonder Woman: WW84 (HBO Max) - Greg - 12-28-2020 Pine was in the trailers. RE: Wonder Woman: WW84 (HBO Max) - Drunk Monk - 04-22-2022 Wow. Like really…wow. That was so bad. 2.5+ hours of painful badness. What even happened? The ol’ ‘careful what you wish for’ trope played out to the sum of all fears. So incoherent. What did anything have to do with anything? How could they miss on such an epic scale? What was even the point of it all? I still like Gal even though her powers here are ridiculous. I thought Kristen was okay at what she was doing given that most of her snl skit roles had more 3d characters. And Pedro was refreshingly different. Chris… meh. I bummed me out when Gal made him put down the sword. The 80s mocking didn’t work for me (I still love Fanny packs and those neon aerobic tights). The end-of-credits scene was good (even though that didn’t make any sense either). I’d say just skip to that. Not D00M recommended at all.
