The Good Place - Drunk Monk - 12-07-2020 I thought there was a thread on this but I guess it's just aside mentions on other threads. So I'm making this new one. There were more comments somewhere - I distinctly remember ED saying he didn't care for any of the protags, but that's kinda what I like about it. They're all so reprehensible. It was amusing, although the Season 2 finale cliffhanger was wanting more. The characters are very amusing. Not a big fan of Kristen or Ted but they are good in this. And Janet and Tehani are funny. I'll check out Season 3 when it comes around. I have a soft spot for visions of hell, and this hit some amusing notes. (12-10-2018, 02:36 PM)King Bob Wrote: I enjoyed this too. Danson in particular. (Also liked him a lot in "Bored to Death".) I read recently that the network is on the fence about whether they will renew it. The team is stuck on earth, reincarnated and yet they know they are all doomed to eternal damnation. I liked the surreality of the Good Place and its vision of hell. Now that they're stuck on earth with Janet and Michael stripped of their powers, it's not as engaging. Also something has happened to Kristen's skin. She has always been so porcelain, but the close-ups aren't as flattering. I'm still mildly amused, still watching it until something better comes along, like The Expanse next week. RE: The Good Place - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 12-07-2020 I really, really liked this series. Stick through it til the end. RE: The Good Place - Drunk Monk - 12-07-2020 Well alright then. On that note, I'll soldier on. I'm over halfway through S3. I just got to the big fight scene where Janet kicks a lot of demon ass in the Puking Moose. I do relish the in jokes, like the credits and background signage. RE: The Good Place - King Bob - 12-07-2020 I thought the final season was a bit slow getting going, but it finished well. RE: The Good Place - Drunk Monk - 12-09-2020 S3 rolled into S4 so smoothly that I was 2 eps deep before I realized it. Glad that they’re back in the Good Place. It's still amusing enough to keep at it, especially since y’all are saying it’s going to go somewhere worthy in the end. Although I must say that I’m disappointed that none of you commented on this when you were watching it. But then I comment on everything because it’s good practice for my trade, or maybe it’s because if I didn’t, I’d forget. RE: The Good Place - Greg - 12-09-2020 I watched the first couple of eps of season 1 and lost interest. I watched the first ep of S2 because of the big reveal. It still wasn't doing it for me. RE: The Good Place - Drunk Monk - 12-10-2020 seen That final episode was great - made me misty. I enjoyed the philosophical underpinnings, along with the quick trendy references. The cast had a good contentious chemistry and I loved its quirky vision of the afterlife. Ultimately, it was all about the end. RE: The Good Place - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 12-11-2020 Yup. It was a good show RE: The Good Place - Drunk Monk - 12-11-2020 A truly great finale. With so many shows being cancelled with cliffhangers, it's nice to see a show go out with class. It was a beautifully crafted ending which will hang with me for some time like a good finale should. RE: The Good Place - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 12-11-2020 Agreed. Harriet is watching for the second time and I might do that, too. |
