Mythbusters - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 10-23-2006 For those of you who don't know, Mythbusters is a show hosted by two effects guys in Oakland. They go out and recreate things they've seen on television or hear about on the new. The biggest bang for the buck was when they debunked the remove concrete from the inside of a cement truck with a firecracker myth. Supposedly, if you throw a firecracker into a cement truck were the concrete has set, the explosion will help remove the cement from the truck. They ended up putting a couple of sticks of dynamite into a truck that was half full of dryed concrete. They blew the truck into little bitty pieces. They were doing two hours on myths from the movies. They wanted to see if you could cut a sword in half with a another sword. They used Kitanas for their demonstration. They even brought out a sword expert. My question is, if they were in Oakland, why the heck wasn't the sword expert the PPFY? It was some guy named Richard Hill. They were breaking swords. They were looking at antique swords, not just Kitanas. How much further up PPFY's alley do you need to get? Where the hell was the Yeti? I am very dissapointed. wtf? - Drunk Monk - 10-25-2006 who the f is richard hill? Exactly! - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 10-25-2006 It should have been the puffy. - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 10-27-2006 He's some iado dude. Cuts a lot of bamboo. Yup, you could ask the experts. i break sword blades just to make toothpicks. Whatever. They kept showing a clip from "Count of Monte Cristo" (new version) where a thrusting weapon gets sheared in half, and then they go and play with katanas to to prove/disprove. Two different types of swords, tow different cross-sections and two different tempering processes. Other than that, I watch their show all the time! Don't know about the swords - King Bob - 11-02-2006 But I really liked the one where they tried to blow up a scuba tank like in Jaws - it didn't work, and the one where they launched the oxygen cylinder like a missile - it did work. The reason I never ever -- EVER -- talk in airports - cranefly - 11-02-2006 I really liked the one where they tried to bring down a couple of skyscrapers with airliners. - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 11-03-2006 I liked the one where they proved that the moon landing was faked. And then they were all killed by secret government operatives. Don't know him from Adam - Drunk Monk - 01-25-2007 I liked the one where Adam had DM outfit him with ninja gear. Oh wait, that has yet to be televised. Oh who am I kidding? DM is sure to end up on the cutting room floor. Two hours os schmoozing and trying to be witty in that reality-show-kind-of-way wasted. What would you rather watch, explosions or DM trying to make a living selling swords in the 21st century? I know, I know, you guys are my Doom brothers and all, but explosions? Doom loves explosions. As if PPFY hasn't seen DM try to sell swords enough. Worthy of note, Adam did like our ninja sword and was particularly amused by the faux hamon line, but he was more fascinated when DM broke out the weird Chinese weapons. Those always impress. Walking on water - Drunk Monk - 03-27-2007 The ninja special is slated. APR 25 2007 @ 09:00 PM APR 26 2007 @ 01:00 AM APR 28 2007 @ 07:00 PM Quote:Walking on Water http://dsc.discovery.com/fansites/mythbusters/mythbusters.html We'll see if DM made the cut or is once again relegated to the cutting room floor like with those rat bastards at the Today Show (Ann Curry hates me because I have nicer hair than her ![]() It will be just like China - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 04-04-2007 A lot of exciting build up only to have the rug pulled out from underneath us. They are probably just going to re-air the pirate episode in that time slot. I've learned to not put any faith in the DM.(Still coming down from Bingo) You may be right... - Drunk Monk - 04-16-2007 ...been drawing a lot of bad cards lately. The Walking on Water episode has been bumped back. I'm sure it was just so they could take some extra time to digitally remove me from all of the scenes. Damn ninjas. APR 25 2007 @ 09:00 PM APR 26 2007 @ 01:00 AM APR 30 2007 @ 08:00 PM MAY 01 2007 @ 12:00 AM http://dsc.discovery.com/tvlistings/episode.jsp?episode=79&cpi=25369&gid=0&channel=DSC Reminder -- This Wednesday !!!!!!!!!!! - cranefly - 04-23-2007 Just doing my best to promote the DM. We don't get Discovery or any cable. But my mom back in Indiana is going to tape it. --cranefly Mythbusters just called - Drunk Monk - 04-24-2007 Some nice lady called me personally to notify me of tomorrow night's broadcast. That's a tease - makes me think I actually got some screen time. Of course, I don't have cable either. My mom says she'll tape it, but I might have to impinge on someone with Discovery Channel. The DVR is set - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 04-24-2007 But I won't be able to send you a copy. Maybe you are in it, but only as the invisible DM. That would make sense, though, It is the Ninja edition. Just like China - Greg_phpbb3_import1 - 04-25-2007 Okay there is about two seconds I didn't see and it's possible that DM appeared there. I'm going to check the DVR later and see. But for now, DM has used his Ninja powers and I did not see him for the entire episode. Although they used the 15th dan ninja warrior a lot. At least they thanked you in the credits, I think. Does a Gene Chen work at King Fu Tai Chi magazine? They got Tigerclaw right. |
