The Farmer’s Wife (1928) - Drunk Monk - 07-30-2020

A very early Hitchcock, so early it’s silent. A farmer’s wife dies and he searches for another. It’s a comedy. His servant is a buffoon as are many of the other characters, including the farmer. Some of the lines were  fascinating in how dated they were. Pillowy women was one (at 40, they can become feather beds apparently). It wasn’t particularly Hitchcockian except having perfect back lighting and a lingering shot on some cooking ribs.
No sword fights. Not DOOM recommended, even for the most stalwart Hitchcock fans.
