The Fox Family (2006) - Drunk Monk - 07-22-2020
A Korean comedy musical about a family of Kumiho (9 tailed fox demons) at the 1000-year cycle when they need to eat a human liver to become human so they leave the mountains to form a circus. It’s a good premise and sets up a funny intro but ultimately gassed out quickly and fails to deliver or translate. I kept thinking that with a little rewrite it could’ve been great. Few special effects oddly. The dance numbers are weak and all the songs are parodies. Disappointing because I so luv the Kumiho world - it’s akin to Japanese Yōkai or Chinese yauguai. This was a random hoopla pick because I had an odd craving for something Korean.
No sword fights. Some lame knife throwing and chainsawing. Not DOOM recommended, even if you’re partial to K-flix.
