Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi - Drunk Monk - 11-06-2019 So on the way out of The Warrior Queen on Jhansi (http://www.brotherhoodofdoom.com/doomForum/showthread.php?tid=5157) we were discussing this year’s Bollywood take on Rani and an Indian couple said it was on Amazon Prime. Watching it now. It was actually in my queue - I just didn’t read the title far enough to make the Jhansi connection and realize it was the same tale. It kicks ass on the screener we saw. Kangana Ranaut is in the titlular role, Rani Laximi. Kagana is wicked with double Talwar and this version has much more swordplay. Better setting, bigger costumes, and of course, song and dance numbers. So far, it’s a fascinating comparison. The Brits are completely reprehensible. Kangana reminds me faintly of Salma Hayek in this role with her intensity. Far superior film. RE: Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi - Drunk Monk - 11-07-2019 Didn't make it to the end. Fell asleep just round midnite. Still got another half hour plus to go. I'll finish it later. RE: Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi - Drunk Monk - 11-08-2019 Finished that. It was very satisfying. If you like seeing a beautiful woman brutally cut down an army of Brits, this movie is for you. There's even a good Kali vision. Mind you, it's 2 1/2 hours long. Here's one of the many hit songs that proliferate this Bollywood epic Clearly I need to see more Kangana movies. |
