RIP Peter Tork - Drunk Monk - 02-21-2019 I saw the Monkees at Great America once. This girl I was dating in High School (my prom date no less) was way into Davy, her High School crush, so we went. That must have been the mid-80s sometime. Mike wasn't with them and was sorely missed. I remember Davy jumping around singing, and then running out of breath in the middle of the song. I remember Mickey doing Goin' Down, a song I still luv. I don't remember anything about Peter but I know he was there because Mike was the only one absent. RE: RIP Peter Tork - Greg - 02-21-2019 Does that leave us with just one Monkey? RE: RIP Peter Tork - El Dingo - 02-21-2019 I received my 10 LP box set of The Monkee's yesterday. It was purchased as a joint Valentines gift for me and Dee Dee. We played the first album for fun. The next day Peter Tork dies. I am now afraid to play any records. RE: RIP Peter Tork - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 02-22-2019 Long time Monkees fan. Played them tonight at the fencing club on our sound system. Closed out the evening with “For Pete’s Sake”. Take *that* Wizard Glick! RE: RIP Peter Tork - King Bob - 02-24-2019 TG and I both really liked Head back in the 80s. I think I watched it with him but not sure. Some great tunes there. RE: RIP Peter Tork - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 02-25-2019 I also liked the movie. RE: RIP Peter Tork - Drunk Monk - 02-25-2019 ED & I surely watched it together at some point. It’s an astonishing film. RE: RIP Peter Tork - cranefly - 02-25-2019 I only saw Head maybe two years ago. Solid weirdness, great soundtrack, some subtle and not so subtle commentary on the whole industry that had groomed and monetized them -- if I recall correctly. A surprisingly strong movie. RE: RIP Peter Tork - Greg - 02-25-2019 Don't forget Head was written by Jack Nicholson. RE: RIP Peter Tork - King Bob - 02-25-2019 And Toni Basil dances in the black/white switching sequence |
