The A.B.C. Murders - Drunk Monk - 02-03-2019

Malkovic as Poirot? I luv Malkovich but he doesn't quite sell the accent.  However this is an outrageous spin on the Poirot character, completely reframing him and adding a not-so-subtle comment on today's anti-immigration policies.  I liked the style of it, although it was a tad long-winded (3 hour+ eps). The mcguffin was decent and it followed through on some of the subsidiary story arcs with grim resolve (partially the long-winded part). The grossness was excessive - lots of barfing and way too much time spent dwelling on an obese man's boil.  HP factor 2 - Ron (in a solid role distant from his HP character unless you count when he was bearing the horcrux - I've always thought he was the best actor of the big three and that Hermione would go the farthest because she was the hottest) & Moaning Myrtle (in a totally reprehensible role but her voice is so distinctive).

I should note that I've never read any Christie and probably never will.  But I do enjoy movies made from her books.

The movies are the way to go with Agatha. The books are as dry as unbuttered toast.
