Equilibrium - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 07-14-2006 So, I was watching the movie with the sound off in the whisky bar and carrying on a conversation, but this movie looked pretty interesting. kind of a Yojimbo meets 1984 with guns. Christian Bale and Sean Bean were the actors I knew right off, but there were a bunch of recognizable Brits, too and the fights were pretty fun and the "gun kata" at the end was really fun. Of course, it could have been the booze. Re: Equilibrium - thatguy - 10-17-2013 And there was a sword fight... I saw this movie before, but it was called "Farenheit 451". This version throws in elements from The Matrix, and Ridley Scott's 1984 Apple Mac commercial. Here, Bale is the "Fireman" who dabbles with the thing he is committed to destroy. He finally draws the line at a puppy. (But it is really cute). Christian Bale's "gun-fu" is silly at times. He's walking through an empty hallway shooting TV screens on either side, but he has to alternate arms crossed vs arms to the sides with each step. As the yeti said, some recognizable faces. I found the movie flat and listless. --tg Re: Equilibrium - El Dingo - 10-17-2013 The first 10 minutes are cool, then they try to stretch the coolness another hour. The sad thing is that there was a good script here, but got mangled by the focus on action. They were trying to do "Gattica" but filmed it like "The Matrix". There should be a classification of films that are good 'Music Videos' but terrible narratives ("Sucker Punch", "Catwoman" etc.) Re: Equilibrium - thatguy - 10-17-2013 Gattica - that was a good one...I should rewatch that sometime. --tg or as PPFY so sucinctly puts it... - Drunk Monk - 10-18-2013 ...movies to watch with the sound off in the whisky bar. El Dingo Wrote:There should be a classification of films that are good 'Music Videos' but terrible narratives ("Sucker Punch", "Catwoman" etc.) I have only seen the poster. May I have some whisky now? Re: Equilibrium - Dr. Ivor Yeti - 10-27-2013 Herr Dingo is entirely correct about that category, and "Sucker-Punch" is a perfect example. |
