I decided to watch this for Halloween. I could have gone with the Haunting of Hill House, but I figured the Queen would enjoy that so Sabrina it is.

I figured on Sabrina because I was partial to Riverdale, but I can't find enough time for that show.

I think my catholic upbringing and fear of the devil worked against me for this show. It was a celebration of Satan with a whimsical bent to make it okay. But I was put off by the idea of a girl bathing in blood and pledging her life to Satan for her 16th birthday. They use spells to cause harm to the principal when he won't give Sabrina what she wants.

Yes, it's make believe but for me the struck the wrong chord.

Did I ever tell you about when I sold blades to Anton LaVey?  That was back in the glory daze of AFS.  Hope that doesn't strike the wrong chord too.  

I'm enjoying The Romanovs.  It's an Amazon Prime mini-series - well acted and scripted - each episode is a unique story with some connection to the Romanovs.  Complex female characters but most of the men are cads.  Great casting - ep 3 had the bodacious Christina Hendricks opposite the veteran Isabelle Huppert.  It was somewhat meta because it was about a film crew making ep6 of The Romanovs.  Some of the BTS bits reminded me of filming Man at Arms.

You know what they need to make? A show starring Stana & Morena as sword-wielding witch partners. I’d watch the hell out of that.

Just watched the first ep. I’ll probably watch some more. It’s very derivative of Hermione from Harry Potter, just darker. I like the lead actress, her aunties and cousin. Tara and our graphic artist Patrick are watching it. I don’t have issues with Satan. Read the Satanic bible in High School, sold Anton some blades (so wish that selfies were a thing back then), been to some pagan/Wiccan rituals. It’s only tv Greg.

That being said, I love Hermione.  She's one of my favorite characters of HP after Snape and Bellatrix.  Plus the show has a Riverdale twist, happening in the same universe, so I'm hoping for a cross-over.  Riverdale has already been mentioned.  There was a rumor of a Supergirl cross-over, but the Arrow-verse (including Arrow, Supergirl & Flash) is too vast already.  We'll see.  Anyways, I'm down for a few more eps of this.

Per a release from Netflix, here’s what we can expect from the festive special: “The Church of Night, like all covens, celebrates the Winter Solstice — the longest night of the year — when families gather together around the Yule Fire to sing pagan carols, tell ghost stories and huddle against the supernatural creatures that come out to cause mischief. Since the Winter Solstice is when the veil between this world and the next is at its thinnest, it’s the perfect time to conduct a séance — which Sabrina convenes, to try and contact her mother. The Satanic Temple made good on its threat to sue Netflix and Warner Bros. on Thursday, filing a $50 million copyright suit accusing them of ripping off the temple’s statue of Baphomet to fuel “Satanic panic” in the Netflix series “The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.”
The Satanic Temple is best known for making life difficult for governments that allow religious displays on public property. The temple has sought to place its Baphomet statue alongside a representation of the Ten Commandments at the Oklahoma Capitol, and is now engaged in similar litigation against the State of Arkansas.
The temple has gained a certain amount of publicity for those efforts, and now alleges that the producers of “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” are profiting from its work. The lawsuit, filed Thursday in U.S. District Court in New York, alleges that four episodes of the show feature a Baphomet statue that bears a striking resemblance to the one created by the temple.



According to the suit, the temple created its statue in 2013 and 2014, basing it on iconography dating to the 19th century. The suit alleges that the statue contains several elements that make it an “original expression,” and subject to copyright. The statue features two children looking up in awe at a goat-headed man-beast. The temple says the statue cost about $100,000 to design and build.
The statue that appears on the Netflix show also features two children looking up reverently at the goat-man. The statue first appears in the second episode of the show, as the focal point of the Witches Academy — the antagonists of the show. The temple alleges that its copyrighted artwork has been hijacked in service of a stereotypically evil representation.
Netflix referred comment to Warner Bros., which declined to comment.

Netflix has renewed “Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.”
The streamer has ordered another 16 episodes of the series, which will be split into two parts. Netflix initially ordered 20 episodes of the show, which was split into two 10-episode segments. The new season will begin production in 2019. The second half of Season 1 is set to premiere April 5, 2019. The series also launched a holiday special, “A Midwinter’s Tale,” last Friday.
“Chilling Adventures of Sabrina” imagines the origin and adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult and witchcraft. It finds Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature — half-witch, half-mortal — while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit.
It stars Kiernan Shipka, Miranda Otto, Lucy Davis, Ross Lynch, Michelle Gomez, Chance Perdomo, Jaz Sinclair, Richard Coyle, Tati Gabrielle, Adeline Rudolph, Abigail Cowen, Lachlan Watson and Gavin Leatherwood. Jedidiah Goodacre will join the series as Dorian Gray along with Alexis Denisof as Mary Wardwell’s boyfriend, Adam Masters.
Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, who also serves as chief creative officer of Archie Comics, is the showrunner for the series. Aguirre-Sacasa executive produces alongside Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Archie Comics CEO Jon Goldwater, and Lee Toland Krieger. Berlanti Productions produces along with Warner Bros. Television.
“Praise Satan! I’m so grateful to my partners at Warner Brothers, Netflix, Berlanti Television, and Archie Productions for supporting this darker vision of the world’s most famous teen witch,” said Aguirre-Sacasa. “And I’m thrilled to be continuing to tell Sabrina’s chilling adventures with our incredible cast and crew, led by the unstoppable Kiernan Shipka.”
Note: Due to a miscommuncation, it was initially reported that this was a renewal for Seasons 3 and 4. That is not the case.
