If Footmen Tire You, What Will Horses Do? (1972) by Ron Ormon - cranefly - 10-24-2018 This is the latest resurrected and restored film to be featured (for October) on Nicolas Winding Refn's site https://www.bynwr.com/ . But while I have a great deal of respect for Refn's efforts to date with this free site, bringing lost films back to life, there is no way in hell I could find anything redeeming in this piece of shit. It's a Christian propaganda film wherein one Estus W. Pirkle lectures us on the evils of, well, evil, and fearmongers to the hilt to herd people into the fold. Yeah, yeah, one should be able to slip into a mindset that allows appreciation of propaganda like this. But this one is totally beyond me -- maybe due to the oppressive religious atmosphere I dealt with in my youth or just the current political climate. Couldn't watch more than a minute or two, and it made me feel so dirty. Not sinful dirty. Just embarrassed to be of the same species as those who could produce something like this. Hoping that Refn's November choice, Spring Night, Summer Night, is a return to form (for me). RE: If Footmen Tire You, What Will Horses Do? (1972) by Ron Ormon - The Queen - 10-24-2018 If you’re not familiar with the podcast God Awful Movies, I highly recommend it to enjoy the deconstruction of any religious propaganda, conspiracy theory or pro-“woo” bullshit films. I remember them “reviewing” this film a while back (they walk you through the entire film and point out everything wrong and terrifying about the awful film) and although I don’t remember any specifics about this particular awful movie, as I do with all of their episodes, I laughed my ass off. These guys take a little getting used to, but I do enjoy their other three podcasts: “The Scathing Atheist,” “The Skepticrat,” and “Citation Needed.” |
