Yes, I am insane
I'm probably the only Doom brother who reads fantasy novels with any regularity. Over the weekend, I was reading a book called Kings of the Wild. I'll put the review elsewhere.
One of the main thrusts of this movie is they are a mercenary band in charge of killing rogue fantasy creatures like Dragons, Giants, Trolls, etc. Typical stuff. But here is more evidence for my incarceration file. I started to feel bad for the deaths of the fantasy creatures. Sure, the heroes lives were in danger, but the death of the dragon means there is one less dragon in the world. If you kill off all the Giants, soon there won't be any more giants. It's like these guys were on the hunt for endangered animals. And I didn't like it.

Unlike Herr Professor-Doktor Krankypants, I enjoyed Kings of the Wyld. They were hunting down things that were killing humans, but the exploitation of the creatures in the Arena was pretty pointed, and I though that their wyld cousins were included in that as their anger towards humans was exploited. Also, mercenary bands being treated like rock bands was amusing. For a first novel, it was pretty entertaining.
