Secrets of Great British Castles - King Bob - 01-03-2018 This showed up in our recommended list since we watched The Crown. It's actually quite good. Hosted by a journalist/historian named Dan Jones, who is a specialist on the Plantagenets and the Wars of the Roses, and has a recent book on the Templars. He ranges on historical topics that are sometimes tangential to the castle, but it's all pretty interesting. They keep showing the same snippets of medieval combat reenactment, which is pointless, and also reuse the same trebuchet footage every time they talk about sieges. Other than that the visuals are generally good. He talks to some other historians and he reads from period sources too. Season one covers Dover, Warwick, The Tower of London, Caernafon, Stirling and Carrickfergus. I just started season two with Edinburgh. RE: Secrets of Great British Castles - Drunk Monk - 01-03-2018 Cool. I love castles.
