The Road (2009) by John Hillcoat - cranefly - 10-10-2016 A father and son struggle to survive in a post-apocalyptic world where all animal and insect life has been destroyed. As all the canned food gets used up, roving bands turn to cannibalism as a means of survival. This is based on the book, The Road, by Cormac McCarthy. Perhaps you've heard of the guy. Cormac co-wrote the screenplay with Joe Penhall. Viggo Mortenson plays the father, Kodi Smit-McPhee the boy. Charlize Theron and Robert DuVall also have small parts. This is a very depressing and despairing movie. Viggo and Kodi do a great job with their roles, for which they won best acting awards at various festivals. I can't really say this is a movie to be enjoyed, because, well, like I said, it's very depressing and despairing. But if you ever happen to find yourself in too good a mood and need to bring yourself down a notch, you might try watching this. I think it will do the trick. RE: The Road (2009) by John Hillcoat - Greg - 10-10-2016 I felt the same about the book. |
