RIP Paul Kantner - Greg - 01-29-2016 Doesn't pay to be a rocker recently. I saw him and the Jefferson Starship play at the delightful Marriot's Great America. I liked them best during their Freedom At Point Zero to Modern Times days. Was thinkin about posting on Kantner - Drunk Monk - 01-29-2016 Didn't we go to that show together? It was Starship then, right? I was going to post something on that very memory, but it predates the forum, so I can't be sure... I saw Kantner several times since then, at various hippie shows, but none really stand out now. RE: RIP Paul Kantner - Greg - 01-29-2016 Yes . . . . I think they were still Jefferson Starship, then. I always got the impression Kantner was a cranky dude. Seemed to be fighting in the bands constantly and nothing ever met his standards. Just my opinion from the outside looking in. And for extra credit.... - Drunk Monk - 01-29-2016 What year was that? I think I only saw two shows at Great America - Starship (I really think they had just dropped Jefferson then) & the Monkees. RE: RIP Paul Kantner - King Bob - 02-03-2016 Although not much of a song writer, he was the only member to remain through all the different lineups. So kudos for that. |
