Wild City - Drunk Monk - 01-17-2016
The latest from Ringo Lam. A fairly standard Hong Kong tong thriller. Lam works the neon gaudiness of HK with his usual style and heavy-handed symbolism. Nice chases thru crowded streets, gritty fights and gun play. Absurd fraternal loyalty. Enjoyable yet not outstanding.
My friend Phillip Ng has a role - I've mentioned him in other reviews here. He is playing Bruce Lee in the upcoming Birth of the Dragon, which was shooting in SF last week.
